How does fitness play a role in your life?

I started working out because I was being overworked at my office. Trying to maintain this work-life balance when you have a corporate job that demands a lot of your time is… a lot. Trying to avoid certain desk-related problems like sciatica or back pain because of sitting down for extended number of hours. So that's how it all started. But I’m also a dancer. Like I dance, I do quadrant dancing - all the Latin dances, salsa. So between those two I needed to be in a better physical condition in order to be able to perform, and in order to be able to proactively avoid certain health issues.

And then I just got into yoga, it was a whole journey getting into it. I guess between dancing and yoga those are my two workout routines. I usually go twice a week to yoga and then I try to go once a week to the gym, and once a week dancing.

What’s a day in the life like for you?

I’ll try to get to yoga in the morning after when I wake up, or go to the gym after work. Some days, like today I'm going to go to the gym after work for sure. I actually quit the previous corporate job I was working. So now I'm working as a project manager for a staffing agency that originally connected me with Modus a couple years ago. My life is way better with this position, because now I only work three days a week with them. And then the rest of the week I do other type of work for social media and events so it really varies.

Tell us about your experience with the Power Suite

To be honest, I'm not a supplement person so the fact that I'm even taking the Power product supplements means a lot. I really try to stay away from any enhancers because I think you have to let your body naturally regulate. So I don’t take supplements every day, just whenever I need them.

If life is stressful, or I’m not of my schedule. But I really like Power BALANCE. I find it’s helped me with me with PMS symptoms. I take it around that time and it helps me ground.

I've also used Power ON a lot. Power ON got me through a year and a half of working at my previous high-stress, non-stop corporate job at one of the big four firms. It was not an easy journey. It is very high stress, like you are always go, go, go. So Power ON was perfect, I started taking them, and was like “okay, this really helped me focus.” I didn't even think I needed help with focus before, but once I started at that job, Power ON was the thing I didn’t know I needed.

If I know that I have a packed day ahead, I will take Power ON maybe one or two days in advance as a buffer. If I know Monday's going to be tough I'm going to take some on Sunday too, and then Monday and that usually helps.

Sure whey protein tastes great, but the amount of sugar in most of them, it’s so artifical. I also get acne from whey protein.

Tell us about your experience with the Modus protein

Oh I love Modus. I usually have 1 scoop a day, and it lasts for a month or two. What’s improved for me since adding them to my day to day is recovery time. That and having optimal level of energy throughout the day. I'm not even talking about working out, lets say I make chia seed pudding with Modus in the morning at 8am, it keeps me fueled right through lunch and even then I'm not even hungry. I had breakfast at 8 am.

It's a sustainable energy, some proteins don't sit well with my digestive system, they’re very chalky, they feel very heavy, and that's not the case with Modus. I tried to cook with an organic pea protein to make pancakes, and I actually got sick. It just doesn't sit well with me, I tried it a couple of times, I had the same reaction. So I had to throw out whatever protein that was.

Favorite Modus Recipe?

It's definitely the oatmeal coconut balls. It tastes so good. Everyone loves them, I actually have some in my bag right now and I share them with my coworkers, and the love them.

And I’m also a big fan of that chia seed pudding. I have a Nutribullet so whatever amount of coconut milk that holds, then I mix chia seeds, flax seeds, two scoops of Modus and enough coconut milk to make it creamy but not solid. Just keep in mind that the chia seed expands and absorb the liquid, so I have to leave a little runny so there’s room for that expansion.

Thoughts for anyone considering the Modus product line?

If you read the ingredients, you’ll see that there's nothing in there that is not natural. There is nothing in there that is not good for you and it won’t negatively affect your health. Read the ingredients and do your research on them. Definitely take some time to hear the story about how these products came into being - how many years of experience Dr. Pastore has had with the pro baseball teams, working as a doctor, working in the field, developing his formula it was not just something that was put together haphazardly. A lot of research went into these products.
